We also serve as discreet purchasing agents, enabling clients to secure works while preserving their privacy.
- Valuations
We offer valuations for private clients, professional advisors and trustees, on individual artworks as well as full collection audits with detailed inventories for probate, insurance, acceptance in lieu of tax or family settlement. Where necessary we will have a professional conservator produce a condition report on an artwork. As a fully independent organisation Birtwistle Fine Art provides impartial and realistic valuations for its clients.
- Conservation, framing and hanging
Birtwistle Fine Art offers end-to-end management of conservation projects for private clients and institutions. Whether a recent acquisition at auction or a treasured family painting, we offer a range of services to provide the optimal presentation and care for your artwork. From conservation and picture framing to logistics and hanging, Birtwistle Fine Art works countrywide and internationally with leading specialists to offer a professional, discreet, and efficient service. Recent projects include the restoration of major paintings for the Household Cavalry Foundation and The Alpine Club. Services in these instances included an initial assessment to determine the best course of restoration, as well as arranging the required logistics, hanging, lighting and insurance.
We have a close working relationship with several experienced craftsmen, to provide all services associated with traditional and modern picture framing. A hand made frame allows a framer to choose the most appropriate section and tone it to best suit an artwork. Services include, but are not limited to: hand carved frames, joining and cutdowns, gilding and toning, hand cut, wrapped and toned mounts, tab mounting for larger works on paper, glazing.
